Two powerful mowers with the latest battery technology made for larger lawns

Battery technology has advanced so rapidly in recent years that it can now deliver power equivalent to the internal combustion engine for many appliances, indoors and out.

And that applies especially to garden machinery, making it lighter and easier to handle and more pleasant to use as there are no harmful emissions and no smelly fumes to put up with when working.

Here are a couple of the latest mowers from the Redback range which we helped to develop and are new for this year and exclusive to MowDirect.

The first is the Redback E146CV Self-Propelled Cordless Lawnmower with a 40V battery pack which recharges quickly and holds its charge for far longer than traditional lead-acid batteries.

This mower gives you the option of collecting the cut grass, mulching it or discharging to the back or side.

It has five cutting heights from 25mm to 70mm and is a self-propelled mower making grass cutting an easier task.

And with its 46cm cutting-deck it is suitable for lawns up to 1000m2 – and it has a grass box which holds 60 litres with an indicator to show when it is full.

The battery will recharge in 60 minutes and has a run time of 50 minutes.

It has a steel cutting deck to give it great rigidity and adjustable handlebars.

This mower costs £569, £210 off the recommended price and has a three-year warranty with FREE delivery within two to three working days.

The Redback E148CV Self-Propelled Cordless Lawnmower is a similar machine but this one has a slightly wider width of cut – 48cm – so you can tackle areas up to around 1400m2.

It features the same ways of dealing with the cut grass – collecting or mulching or where appearance is not so important, like orchards or small paddocks, discharging it to the back or side.

Large wheels make it capable of handling rougher ground than a smooth lawn.
