Harmful vibrations are massively reduced by the use of rubber stops and damper springs, which isolate the engine from the body of the saw. The carburettor also has its own anti-vibration system, which extends its working life.

The engine on the Oleo-Mac GS371 Petrol Chainsaw is a two-stroke unit with a 35.2cc displacement producing 2.4hp; and has been designed to keep going in the face of regular intensive use. An electronically controlled digital coil makes starting fast and reliable, and reduces fuel consumption into the bargain.

The bar and chain, like all the other components, are of high quality, and the bar length is 35cm, which is compact enough to be easily manageable, but large enough to enable cuts in bigger timbers.

The ergonomically designed handle conveniently incorporates triggers for 'on/off', choke and throttle; maintenance features include tool-free air filter access.

Safety-features include an inertia activated chain brake that will intervene in case of kickback, and which can be used to stop the chain moving during position changing, with no need to stop the engine.

The chain-brake handle also doubles as a front handguard for protection, should the chain derail.
